Evergreen Moving Systems (formerly Everett Transfer) opened its doors in 1964 as a small family business. It was an agent for North American Van Lines and was owned by the Lawrence family. The company operated a couple of trucks and served the Everett, WA area with distinction. In 1972 Clarence Wilson and his son-in-law Bill Brown Sr. left Hunt Transfer Co. (the largest North American Van Lines agency on the West coast) to buy the company and changed its name to Evergreen Moving Systems, Inc. 1 year later. The first years were very lean. Bill and Clancy would literally book a shipment on Monday and haul it to Yakima, WA on Saturday. Clancy semi-retired in 1977 and Bill Brown Sr. took over the business.
